1969: Looking back at Dior's 'New Look'

Christian Dior unveiled his first collection, for Autumn/Winter 1947, on the 12th of February, 1947. With a full skirt, small waist, and round shoulders, it became known as the 'New Look'.

In 1969, writer Louise de Vilmorin looked back at the New Look and her first impression when she saw the Begum Aga Khan wearing it at the British Embassy in Paris.

This clip is from 24 Hours, broadcast 15th April 1969.
