  2. Sutton's predictions: Fulham v Evertonpublished at 14:08 10 May

    Sutton's predictions graphic

I was at Goodison Park for Everton's draw with Ipswich last week and although the result was disappointing, they played well enough to win.

If Everton had taken their chances they would have had the points wrapped up before Ipswich got back into the game.

As I've said before though, I don't think it's a bad thing that they have not sustained their early form under David Moyes, because that would paint a false picture of how strong their squad is and it needs a serious overhaul in the summer.

Moyes definitely lifted things when he took over in January but he has got some big decisions to make about who stays and goes and it feels like a few players are on trial at the moment, with their futures uncertain.

As for Fulham, well I've found them almost impossible to call for most of the season, especially at home, but I am going to back Marco Silva's side to take the points here.

They will have a go at Everton and, with James Tarkowski injured, I don't think the Toffees will hold out.

    Sutton's prediction: 2-1

  3. Moyes on Doucoure's future, group unity and Richarlisonpublished at 14:09 9 May

    Media caption,

Everton boss David Moyes has been speaking to the media before Saturday's Premier League game against Fulham (kick-off 15:00 BST).

Here are the key lines from his news conference:

    • Midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure is available with Moyes confirming he missed the Ipswich game due to a "personal issue".

    • He confirmed there are "a few knocks and niggles" which will need to be assessed but he would not specify for which players.

    • On Doucoure expressing his desire to stay at the club after this season: "We are making lots of decisions behind the scenes. It is good to have so many [players] that want to stay."

    • On opponents Fulham: "They look a really good, solid club now. Marco [Silva] has got a really good recruitment team behind him. They are higher in the league than us, we go there probably as underdogs. But, we go there with the same spirit that we have taken to other away games."

    • He said their "great away form" was one of the reasons they climbed the table and avoided the relegation zone this season so that is "credit to the players".

    • On the unity within the group: "We have got a long way to go. There is an incredible spirit among the players and they look out for each other. But, we want to try and make it better and keep building on it."

    • He praised goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and the defence who have "done brilliantly," with Moyes adding: "If you are good at the back, it gives you a great platform to build on. We have tried to add more chances, score more goals – I think we have done that as well."

    • On Beto's season: "He has become a much more important player as the season has gone on. He is really trying to make a mark and let's be honest, he probably has [done that]."

    • He dismissed rumours that they are interested in a return for now Tottenham forward Richarlison.

  4. Ferguson 'upset and sad' about Everton leaving Goodison Parkpublished at 15:02 8 May

Former Everton forward Duncan Ferguson has said he hates the fact that the Toffees are moving from Goodison Park.

The Blues' final competitive game at their home of 133 years is against Southampton on Sunday, 18 May before shifting to the new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock in the summer.

"I am upset - very sad about it," Ferguson told Adrian Chiles on BBC Radio 5 Live. "I didn't want us to leave and most of the fans don't want us to leave. I am very sad about that - much preferred us to stay there. All the memories are there, aren't they?

"What I want to happen is, if you took the stadium and stands down, that's fine but turn it into a park or some memorial park where you can put Rupert's Tower in the middle.

    "I don't think it'll happen."

Having won four of their first six Premier League games under David Moyes following his return to the club in January, Everton have now won just one of their past 10.

Beto and Iliman Ndiaye are Everton's top scorers in the Premier League this season with seven goals each. Only Southampton have a lower scoring top scorer in the competition this term (Paul Onuachu, four).

  6. 'Anywhere from 7th to 17th' - fans give early predictions for next seasonpublished at 18:54 7 May

We asked for your views on what 2025-26 will have in store for Everton Football Club.

In our poll, 44% of you think a finish between 10th and eighth is on the cards, with 14% expecting a cup win and 10% predicting a top-six finish.

Here are some of your comments:

Mike: No Evertonian can predict next season with any accuracy. We need a total squad overhaul, a mentality shift and we will be finding our feet in a new stadium. We could be anywhere from seventh to 17th. Somehow, after all these years, I'm still optimistic and think we'll improve the squad to finish in the top half. I even have hopes of qualifying for Europe one way or another.

Graham: Next season can be great. New stadium, new players, new atmosphere. There is absolutely no reason why a trophy and European qualification (by finishing in the top seven in the league) should not be credible goals.

Gruff: Hopefully some new first-team quality players, who will lead us into the new stadium. A new mindset of finishing in the top half and possibly Europe. The only way is up!

Doug: Just a little concerned that unless we get 40,000 Evertonians there at every home match, it could well be like playing away, even though we are at home. I think that if we can finish in the top half that will be a solid base to build on for 2026-27.

Keith: The thought of another relegation fight is unthinkable to all Evertonians, but if any of the newly promoted teams can hold their own and stay up, who is going to be batting it out at the bottom end? If this season is anything to go by, it would at be at least one from West Ham, Tottenham, or Man Utd in danger. I'm sure all three will be better next season, but the Premier League has become significantly more competitive, so who are the more likely contenders? It is vital Everton get their recruitment right.

  8. Draws 'frustrating' as thoughts turn to next seasonpublished at 12:43 7 May

Just three games to go. The pressure is off to a large extent but fans – and David Moyes - will still want to see good performances and a victory (or three).

The draws have been frustrating, none more so than Saturday's with Ipswich having been 2-0 up. Moyes talked about not having enough shots and that was certainly true in the second half, so maybe that is something they will work on between now and the end of the season.

Beto's goal will give him confidence and Dominic Calvert-Lewin made his return from the bench, so there are some positives there. It will be interesting to see if Calvert-Lewin is fit enough to start at Fulham on Saturday, or whether it will be a cautious approach between now and the end of the campaign.

I was there to see Fulham beat Liverpool a few weeks ago so it will certainly be a tough trip, and the Whites retain hopes of a European spot should results fall their way.

It is a good test for Everton and for Moyes against a side they may look to overhaul next season as part of their development process.

This campaign is not over yet but thoughts will be turning to the next one.

  9. Goodison's final outing - 'I'm not sure any of us are prepared'published at 12:46 6 May

Saturday served as a fabulous reminder of what we are leaving behind in Goodison Park.

The work done this season by fan group, The 1878s has been nothing short of exemplary.

As they bowed out on Saturday, with the club taking over proceedings for Goodison's final bow against Southampton, it's fair to say the display brought many emotions to the surface for so many Blues.

The sight of confetti floating from the upper tiers of all four sides of the ground, bordered by flags and banners of so many Everton heroes, will live long in the memory.

It's true that our football club is made what it is by our fans. Without the selflessness of a handful, we wouldn't have been given the opportunity to bid a proper farewell to The Old Lady over the course of this season.

One thing they were unable to impact was the habit of Everton throwing away a 2-0 lead.

For the fourth time this season, the players did exactly that. It is something I am sure the manager will want to eradicate before we enter a new era for the club.

As disappointing as that was, nothing could take away from what was a truly emotive and very Evertonian spectacle pre-match.

I think the tears will continue to flow in the lead-up to Goodison Park's final outing in a couple of weeks' time.

I'm not sure any of us are prepared for that.

  10. Everton 2-2 Ipswich - the fans' verdictpublished at 09:57 5 May

    Your views banner

We asked for your views on Everton's Premier League game against Ipswich.

Here are some of your comments:

    Everton fans

Oliver: The full-backs simply weren't up to standard. Vitaliy Mykolenko offers solid defensive cover but lacks the quality or confidence going forward, while Nathan Patterson contributes more in attack but is too often caught out defensively. Strengthening the full-back positions will surely be high on David Moyes' agenda this summer.

Mike: Jekyll-and-Hyde performance once again from Everton. Second half we just didn't turn up but credit to Ipswich who were good value for the draw. On far too many occasions this season, a two-goal lead has been squandered. Moyes knows this is not good enough and a major overhaul is needed in the summer.

Harry: I can't believe how sluggish and lazy we looked. On a day, when the fans made such an effort to give the Old Lady the beginning of a memorable send-off, the players thought they'd just go through the motions. Fifteen draws and counting.

Anton: Extremely frustrating result. Clearly too many players thought that 2-0 up after 35 mins at home to an already-relegated side equated to three pts. They'd better not produce this kind of performance against Southampton. This summer is going to be extremely interesting, not frustrating...we hope!

    Ipswich fans

David: This was one of very few games this season where I felt we matched the opposition and weren't outclassed.

James: Where have those performances been hiding?! Great resilience to come back and get a point. My concern is how many of those players are going to be there next season.

Steve: The team have not given up - a good sign.

Robert: A fighting display to get the draw but sadly too little too late. My greatest worries are whether the manager will stay if approached by other clubs, how many players will move on and, if we sign new players, how long will it take them to gel together. We need to be on the front foot from the very start of next season.

  11. 'Moyes gave me confidence to be myself' - Betopublished at 09:57 5 May

David Moyes slaps hands with BetoImage source, Getty Images

Everton forward Beto spoke to BBC Radio Merseyside after Saturday's draw against Ipswich: "It's a really big disappointment. We had the game in our hands but we let it escape."

On his upturn in form since David Moyes' return: "He gave me confidence and the freedom to play - to make runs, be aggressive and be myself. I am playing more so of course I am enjoying it more. I think I can do more. I am better now but I want to get better."

On Dominic Calvert-Lewin: "He has always been a good player and an Everton legend. He is back now to help the team get the best results possible.

  12. 'We did not have enough shots, we need to improve'published at 17:46 3 May

David Moyes managing EvertonImage source, Getty Images

David Moyes spoke to BBC Match of the Day after Everton's draw against Ipswich: "The feeling is one of disappointment because we were 2-0 up and allowed them back into the game. We did enough good things but didn't turn it into enough goals and chances.

"Ipswich can give teams problems. They are a really good footballing side. A lot of players made poor decisions in that period for their second goal.

"We didn't have enough shots, I know that. It's not the end of the earth but it's something we need to improve on. We saw today as a big chance to take three points but we couldn't quite see the game off."

On the emotion inside Goodison Park with this the last Saturday Premier League game at the venue: "It was an incredible atmosphere inside the stadium before kick-off. I thought the players were very good for the first 40 minutes. The ers will be disappointed they didn't take the three points - as are the players."

    BBC Sport Journalist

It was meant to be a day of celebration as Everton played their final ever Saturday 15:00 kick-off at Goodison Park - their first came 48,293 days ago when they beat Preston 6-0 in February 1893.

The Gwladys Street stand was adorned with flags and banners, while the players walked into a shower of blue, white and yellow ticker tape as they emerged from the tunnel to the sound of Z-Cars.

Everton were initially buoyed by the occasion as they penned Ipswich back and earned a two-goal lead through Beto and Dwight McNeil.

But the afternoon took a turn and the mood was dampened when Julio Enciso rifled home a dipping shot from 30 yards shortly before half-time.

Everton ran out of steam in the second period, attempting just one shot off target, as Ipswich began to grow in confidence.

George Hirst could hardly believe his luck when he rose unchallenged at the back post to head in the equaliser with 11 minutes remaining.

With a move to Bramley-Moore dock set for next season, it wasn't the fairytale Everton had wished for in their last Saturday at home, but they have another shot at a winning finale when they play their closing match at the venue they've called home since 1892 against Southampton on 18 May.
