Three close catchers in for Zafar who is right behind the ball to block to the leg side.
The third ball is pushed behind square leg and Higgins declines the single.
The last ball is pushed safely off side and that's tea.
Middlesex remain precariously placed but will be grateful to Ryan Higgins for batting out the session. He's 32 not out, Middlesex are 86 ahead and the new ball is due a couple of overs into the final session.
Derbyshire still have time but they must strike early after the break.
