Scottish Labour has unexpectedly won the parliamentary by-election in Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse. The party took the South Lanarkshire seat from the SNP with a majority of just over 600 votes -- a swing of more than seven per cent. Reform UK came third -- fewer than 900 votes behind the SNP. The Conservatives were a distant fourth, with just six per cent of the vote. The contest followed the death of the Scottish Government minister, Christina McKelvie, who had a majority of more than four and a half thousand. Turnout was 44 per cent.
