Warrington Wolves second rower Dan Russell says he was enticed to the club due to Super League's improvement in quality relative to Australia's National Rugby League (NRL).
The 29-year-old Papua New Guinea international has ed the Wire ahead of the 2025 season.
Prior to g for Warrington, Russell made eight appearances in the NRL over two years with the St George Illwarra Dragons.
"There's little differences [between Super League and the NRL] but not much. The level over here is great, super talented and tough and it's getting similar [to the NRL]," he told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"The competition is getting close to the NRL and I can see that. There's a lot of talent over here now and a lot of young kids coming through and it's very similar."
Russell also said his international team-mates, as well as Warrington boss Sam Burgess, sold him on making the move to the northern hemisphere.
"Being in the PNG team for a long time now, there's a lot of PNG boys over here. They've always spoken highly about it and how good the competition is," he added.
"They helped a lot but when Sam reached out it made the decision quite easy."
