Liverpool become the first British team to retain the European Cup.
Liverpool Football Club dominated European football in the late 1970s, becoming only the second English side to lift the European Cup in Rome in 1977, beating Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-1. They then repeated the achievement at Wembley a year later beating Club Brugge 1-0 and became the first British team to retain the trophy.
