High winds cause 'absolute carnage' in town

High winds caused widespread disruption and reportedly a tornado in Staffordshire.

Trees were uprooted on Thursday night in Kidsgrove, and in one case smashed into a derelict church, damaging its roof.

One resident said it was "absolute carnage" on the roads near him. Others likened what they witnessed to a tornado, adding it was loud.

A Met Office yellow weather warning for strong winds remains in place until Sunday.
