Retiring fire rescue dog receives guard of honour

Firefighters held an extra special guard of honour to say goodbye to an urban search and rescue dog who is retiring.

Frankie, a seven-year old Belgian Malinois, has been a dedicated and much-loved member of Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service's USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) team since 2018.

She was initially found as a stray in Ireland and was brought to England by the Dogs Trust at 10 months old.

Frankie had one last run around the training course, and received a send-off from the crew as she was presented with her service certificate.
