Sabrina lifted out of Severn for safety checks

A Shrewsbury tourist boat has been lifted out of the River Severn by a giant crane for its biennial safety checks.

Sabrina is a familiar site on the Severn during the spring and summer months, carrying up to 60 people at a time.

On Thursday, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency carried out ultrasound and hull inspections as well as examining the propeller, rudder, and prop shaft.

Dilwyn Jones, managing director of Sabrina Tours, said: "Mechanics, welders, boat engineers and painters have been on hand throughout the day to ensure Sabrina is fully prepared for the season."
