Police officer stabbed in the face

A woman has been arrested after a police officer was stabbed in the face.

Cumbria Police said the female officer suffered an injury after the force was called to a property near Newtown Road, Carlisle, at 09:30 BST.

The injury has not been described as life-threatening but the officer is receiving treatment in hospital.

A 25-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion on grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in custody.
