A man has been arrested after an incident in South Lanarkshire which saw two women assaulted and a flat set on fire.

Police were called to Mill Road in Cambuslang just after 16:00 on Thursday after receiving a report of women being assaulted.

A man then barricaded himself within a flat and a fire was set before he threw himself from the balcony.

The two women, aged 41 and 16, were taken to hospital while several properties were evacuated as a precaution.

A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Police Scotland stated that inquiries into the incident remain ongoing.
