The fire happened at a house in Princes Street, Dunstable, on Friday

Three people have been injured after a fire in the bedroom of a town centre house.

Four crews from Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue Service were called to the three-storey property on Princes Street, Dunstable, at 12:42 BST on Friday.

A woman with severe burns was taken to hospital by air ambulance.

Medical treatment was also given to a man with burns on his hand and an elderly woman suffering with smoke inhalation.

Crews from Dunstable and Luton used breathing apparatus, hoses and high-pressure fans to clear the fire and smoke.

Firefighters estimated 70% of the room had been destroyed by the blaze.

Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue Service said an investigation into the cause of the fire had started.
