Police said they received a report of two men attacking another man with baseball bats

Two men have been released on bail following arrests over a reported baseball bat attack.

The victim, a man in his 30s, remains in the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital after he was taken there following the incident which happened at about 00:50 BST on Sunday.

Gloucestershire Police said officers received a report of two men attacking another man with baseball bats, which they dropped before leaving the scene on Rectory Road, Matson.

A 35-year-old man and a 33-year-old man, both from Gloucester, were arrested on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm. They have been released on bail while inquiries continue.

Anyone with information about the incident has been asked to Gloucestershire Police.
