Make a straw rocket

Watch this video as Evie shows you how to make your own straw rocket. 3...2...1...Blast off!

You will need
  • Rocket template ( below) or plain paper
  • Scissors (grown-up use only)
  • Sticky tape
  • Felt tip pens or colouring pencils
  • Paper straw

Step 1:

First either draw a rocket or print out the rocket template.

Step 2:

Ask a grown-up to help you cut out the rocket. Be careful as scissors are sharp.

Step 3:

Colour and decorate your rocket anyway you like.

Step 4:

From the leftover paper from which you cut out your rocket, cut out a small rectangle and roll it around your straw. Tape it together, making sure it isn't too tight around the straw. Take it off the straw and now you have a paper tube.

Step 5:

Flatten one end of the paper tube and fold the opening down. Secure that end to the back of your paper rocket with sticky tape.

Step 6:

Now you can put your straw inside the the tube to make your launch pad.

Step 7:

Now you are ready for launch! To launch your rocket just blow into the straw and watch your rocket then blast off.
